Tilt design for uniform chips, high production, and low maintenance. Salem has developed today's most advanced chipper for processing mill waste wood. Designed to provide the optimum chipping angle, the Tilt Chipper combines the advantages of gravity and horizontal feed chippers and incorporates numerous features insuring easy installation, smooth feeding, high production of uniform chips and low maintenance. The Tilt Chipper features a balanced disc precisely machined from 5" selected steel plate with a hard chrome, replaceable face-wearplate. The face mounted knives eliminate knife distortion, reduce wear surfaces and simplify maintenance. Their position is babbit adjusted. (Standard knife mounting is also available.) The shortened spout positions wood nearer the knife and anvil for better control. It is integral with the base and accepts either belt or vibrating conveyor infeed (a roll may be mounted to the spout for an "S" belt drive). The flat bottom of the spout supports a reversible, heavy plate-steel anvil which is replaceable and fully adjustable.

Standard Contruction Features

Tilted Disc - Better controls and stabilizes wood; allows continuous, regulated self- feeding; simplifies installation by reducing total height requirements and permitting the back discharge of chips to eliminate elevated installations. Arbor and Bearings - Precisely machined, alloy steel, rotating arbor; heavy, double- roller type bearings with a special, adjustable steel housing to permit micrometric setting of disc to anvil.

Hoods - Fabricated from steel plate; lined with replaceable wear resistant plastic; hinged quadrant design for easy maintenance access.

Base - Properly tilts disc; fabricated of heavy steel with integral motor base; all bearing surfaces fully machined.

The Tilt Chipper offers the optimal chipping angle and features independently adjustable disc, knives, and anvil to insure exact regulation of chip length. The chipper comes in 50" and 60" disc diameter models with 3, 4, or 6 knives (face or standard mount), and left or right hand, top or back discharge.
